Holczer accuses Leipheimer of doping very slooooowly.
Today, former Gerolsteiner manager Hans-Michael Holczer accused Levi Leipheimer of doping five years behind schedule.
It took him that many years to get the accusation out, which probably has something to do with flogging his new book called “Garantiert Positiv” (“Guaranteed Positive”) in Germany. No point in working the big promotional machine until the thing is written.
Maybe we just woke up on the wrong side of the attitude tent, but we're getting pretty weary of people who wait 5-7-10 years before they accuse somebody of something. Look at the calendar, folks, make them while there's still a point.
Counter claim: Levi Leiphiemer said today that Holczer was mentally slow. That it sometimes took him months to finish a sentence and years to form a complete thought. Leipheimer also said Holczers' book was riddled with typos and that the narrative structure was weak. All distinct signs of mental imbalance.
FLoyd Landis had many demons to wrestle with and we can understand his skewed sense of time. But what was holding Holczer back all these years? Just slipped his memory? Wrote Levi's blood values on a dry cleaning slip and lost it for five years? Was he re-organizing his garage when he suddenly, unexpectedly, he came across some old UCI correspondence in a cardboard box?
It's a standard knee jerk response for a rider accused of doping to say, well, somebody is just trying to make a buck. Generally we think that's a bullshit answer. Setting aside Levi's guilt or non-guilt, Twisted Spoke is peeved and annoyed that Holczer waits five years to fling wet cow pies.
